The Chang update for Cardano (ADA), a major blockchain platform, is almost ready to go live. To make this happen, important steps have been taken. There is a new version of Ogmios out now. It’s a useful and light bridge protocol that lets Cardano nodes talk to each other.
He told the Cardano community what he thought about the newest version of Ogmios. Ktorz is the technical head at the Cardano Foundation. Ktorz tweeted not long ago that Ogmios v6.5.0 was now available. This version is meant to work with the upcoming Chang 1 update. The brand-new Cardano Node 9.0.0 works properly with this version, which also adds useful features that make the protocol work better.
Cardano’s Ogmios Update and Chang Upgrade Details
The new version has improvements like a new WebSockets API that lets local clients use JSON/RPC to talk to Ouroboros’ mini-protocols. The update also includes a new ledger state query made for Treasury and Reserves, as well as improved protocol settings such as a new reference script fee and an expanded maximum transaction size.
A significant shift is that the way fees are calculated has been changed so that script references are now part of the minimum transaction fee structure. It was made clear by Ktorz that this change was very important: it was fully explained in the release notes, along with graphs that showed how it would affect things.
It will be a significant shift for the Cardano community when the Chang upgrade comes out. It will bring about new ways to rule that will alter everything. Chang wants to give people a lot of say in how the system changes. Cardano’s roadmap and CIP-1694 both talk about this in terms of the ideas of decentralized government that Voltaire talked about.
With this change, which is being done in two parts called Chang 1 and Chang 2, Cardano’s history is about to take a significant turn. It is written in CIP-1694 that Chang 1 will add basic governing features. This will start the process of technology bootstrapping. That’s it, this step will no longer be in Chang 2. This will make it possible for full on-chain governance features, such as taking part in governance acts and DRep.
