Bloomberg stated that the court has postponed the hearing for a Binance executive who is being held in Nigeria on suspicion of tax evasion to April 19. During the executive’s first court appearance, this choice was made.
Tigran Gambaryan, who is in charge of preventing financial crime at Binance, is being accused of not paying taxes, such as value-added and business income taxes. There are also claims that Gambaryan helped customers avoid paying taxes by using Cryptocurrency Exchange’s website.
His case will still be monitored by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Also, Exchange’s case has been put off until April 8.
Binance’s Nigeria Monitoring, Anjarwalla Departs
Nadeem Anjarwalla, another high-level Binance employee who was arrested with Gambaryan has left Nigeria last month.
After the government shut down crypto exchanges to prevent currency speculation, both people went to Nigeria at the end of February at the request of the country’s government to talk about how cryptocurrencies work.
Nigeria is among the most populous nations in Africa. In the past year, the local currency has declined sharply, which has led to a rise in the use of cryptocurrencies. Because of this rise, the government put limits on crypto platforms.
