Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, recently explained on social media what the significant Ethereum (ETH) move that everyone in the cryptocurrency community was talking about was for. Buterin sent 200 ETH to the Kraken exchange earlier today.
These coins are worth about $532,000. This move got a lot of attention right away, and many users were curious about what Buterin really wanted to do.
Buterin has now confirmed that the Animal Welfare Fund received the money. “Thanks for giving all animal coins from the last year or so to charity!” “Having said that, I’d prefer direct distribution of coin holdings to the charities,” he stated.
Ethereum Aids Animal Advocacy
The Animal Welfare Fund provides funding to organizations that work to improve animal health and welfare. These funds help with many different projects, such as researching ways to advocate for animals, helping animal groups that are in need, and stopping unethical farming practices.
Among the fund’s goals are improving the welfare of farmed fish, pushing alternative proteins, and ending cruel farming practices. The amount of gifts suggested by the fund so far totals several million dollars. Individual donors and institutional backers provide assistance.
The biggest institutional donor is Open Philanthropy, a research and grantmaking foundation based in San Francisco, California.Buterin is famous for the beneficial things he does for others. He gave $300,000 to the 2077 Collective last month.
This is a group whose goal is to get more people to use Ethereum. He also garnered significant attention when he donated a significant portion of his Shiba Inu (SHIB) holdings to charity.
