Buterin proposes faster Ethereum transactions with streamlined architecture and fee options.
A person named Vitalik Buterin helped make Ethereum. He has new ideas to speed up the process of approving transactions on the Ethereum network. Buterin said on his blog on June 30 that Ethereum has come a long way in five years, but that the user experience still needs work.
Buterin talked about a plan called “single-slot finality” (SSF), which is meant to make ETH current slot and epoch system easier to understand. Another idea, called “based preconfirmations,” says that users should be able to speed up deals by paying extra to be included in the next block right away.
“The main challenge with SSF is that naively, it seems to imply that every single Ethereum staker would need to publish two messages every 12 seconds, which would be a lot of load for the chain to handle.” Vitalik Buterin
Ethereum’s Layer-2 Integration Plans
Buterin wants to create a standard protocol that will work with different layer-2 options, such as Optimism, Arbitrum, and Base, and let users choose faster transaction guarantees. Notably, ETH processes blocks every 12 seconds, which is faster than Bitcoin’s 10-minute block time but slower than competitors like Solana, which creates blocks in just 0.4 seconds.
Buterin agrees that ETH can be useful for some things, like managing domains and making some payments. However, he also knows that people want faster choices. The way ETH is set up now works for many people, but those who need faster transaction speeds might not be able to use it with the current slot-and-epoch setup.
