Fox Business says that next week, the campaign group “Crypto for Harris” will hold a virtual town hall meeting to try to boost Vice President Kamala Harris’s reputation in the cryptocurrency community. The goal of the event is to counteract the impact of former President Trump on the crypto world.
The exact date of the meeting has not been set yet, but it is likely to include well-known Democratic members of the House of Representatives as well as pro-Bitcoin billionaire and inventor Mark Cuban and SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci. The group has also invited the top Democratic Senate leaders to help push Harris’s campaign even more.
Crypto Town Hall Boosts Harris
Trump has recently gotten a lot of support from people in the cryptocurrency community after speaking at the Bitcoin 2024 meeting in Nashville. This led to the virtual town hall. There, Trump made a vague reference to the idea of making a national Bitcoin reserve, which got a lot of attention.
Recent steps taken by Vice President Harris to back crypto have started to sway the cryptocurrency community’s support toward her campaign. According to data from Polymarket, the odds for Harris to win the 2024 U.S. election have gone up to 50%, which is higher than Trump’s chances of 49%.
There have now been $547 million worth of bets on the U.S. elections on Polymarket. Harris announced on August 6 that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz could be her choice for vice president. This made her chances of winning go up by 3% that same day, to 46%.
The next virtual town hall meeting by “Crypto for Harris” will be significant because the race for president is getting tougher. It could change the way people in the bitcoin community support candidates for office.
