The NFT marketplace said at a September 5 conference that the US domain would retain the services it presently offers while the international.io domain would acquire fresh features and adjustments. The crypto community is fiercely opposed to this shift, with many grumbling about what they consider as restrictions on service access.
Magic Eden Responds To SEC Pressure
Concerned about X, some pointed out that American citizens would no longer be able to employ well-known events like airdrops. Some users claimed that Magic Eden was evolving into a “centralized entity” restricting US consumers’ options.
More laws and rules in the US could have been the reason behind the transformation. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued OpenSea a Wells warning today. Magic Eden could be acting very cautiously following that.
One member of the community encouraged Magic Eden to be honest about difficulties with regulations and that the site should clearly show US officials have influence. On August 22 the Magic Eden Foundation also issued the ME funds to support the expansion of its NFT platform and distributed apps (DApps).
This made trading across chains simpler. The ME currency is supposed to be rather important for the platform’s economy as well as for the expansion of its distributed autonomous organization (DAO) systems.
