Nigeria To Deploy Blockchain And Emerging Tech Research Centers

Kashifu Inuwa, the head of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), said at the IoT West Africa Conference that the agency will set up research sites to study new technologies like bitcoin.

These new areas of study will examine the growth and use of important technologies like robots, AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and additive manufacturing. Blockchain technology will also be considered. Inuwa said that these spots will be placed in six reasonable political zones across Nigeria.

The Nigerian government wants to help Nigerian companies use these cutting-edge technologies to speed up the new product-making process. They are also building these study centers. To do this, innovative sandboxes must be built and sold in the real world.

Nigeria Broader Strategy And Rise As a Tech Hub

The NITDA project is part of a bigger plan to help people in Nigeria learn how to use computers better. The 3MTT program is another important project.

Its goal is to train three million Nigerians by 2027 and give them the tech skills they need to help the country’s tech business grow. Inuwa believes that these efforts will bring about new ideas in the country and cause more people to send money back to their home countries in the form of foreign currency as they look to work abroad.

The head of Vertex Next, the company that put together IoT West Africa, said Nigeria would be “Africa’s next Silicon Valley.” Taneja said that the country’s rise as a tech powerhouse was mostly due to its large and young population and its busy startup ecosystem.

The Africa Data Center and Cloud Expo Africa are IoT in West Africa because they look like great businesses. He said that more and more young people are trying to improve technology. He also thought the meeting would help Nigerian start-ups get money from sponsors.

Niger has become more clear over time about how much it wants new tools. In May, the National Blockchain Policy Steering Committee (NBPSC) was changed to make the National Blockchain Policy easier to use. It also wants to find ways to work with the US to make AI and other new technologies better. This is still happening, even though there have been legal problems recently, such as being arrested by Binance’s CEO.

There is a group in Nigeria called BICCoN that supports blockchain technology. They said these changes could make it harder to work with partners worldwide. Nigeria is still working hard to improve its technology, which will make it a big player in the world of technology.
