David Schwartz, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), recently started a heated debate in the XRP community about a key feature of the X social media site, which used to be called Twitter. Schwartz went on X to say that he didn’t like the Community Notes tool, which is supposed to give more information and correct false posts.
Schwartz complained in a tweet that got a lot of attention, saying that he had never gotten a Community Note. He added a sad, happy face to the tweet. Elon Musk pushed for the Community Notes feature to be added to make the information shared on the site more accurate. But Schwartz’s comment made it sound like he wanted the feature to notice him, even though it hasn’t picked up on any of his posts yet.
People in the XRP community responded quickly to Schwartz’s comment by giving him different tips on getting Community Notes’s attention. To get noticed, one user suggested that Schwartz “say something wrong about XRP.” Another person showed pictures of some of Schwartz’s tweets that were about to get Community Notes. This meant that no changes had been made because of how accurate his posts were.
Ripple CTO Criticizes Musk’s Projects
Some people might believe Schwartz’s posts because there are no Community Notes. What he did, though, shows that he’s much less happy. This could be because he doesn’t like some of Elon Musk’s projects. On his show, Schwartz has often criticized Musk’s tweets, which has caused arguments in the tech world.
This week, Schwartz was also in the news when he said bad things about how the popular question-and-answer site Quora used AI. A tweet he sent praised the “high-quality AI-generated questions” of the Quora Prompt Generator that was built on AI. Schwartz is already worried about how AI could be used to make content for digital platforms and keep the quality good. This comment makes those worries even worse.
For something he said not long ago, David Schwartz is once again in the middle of a fight in the XRP community and elsewhere. Since he runs Ripple as chief tech officer, what he says is very important. His use of tools like Community Notes and AI to make content makes people argue about the future of digital platforms and the truth of what people post online.
