TON Applications Chain Debuts at Ethereum Conference

While at the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Brussels on Tuesday, Pavel Altukhov and his team showed off the TON Applications Chain (TAC). A new Layer-2 (L2) solution called TAC aims to make it easier for decentralized applications (dapps) built on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to work with the Open Network (TON).

Altukhov, who is in charge of the project, said that TAC uses Polygon’s Chain Development Kit (CDK), which emphasizes TON’s ability to grow and expand its environment beyond its roots in private messaging apps.

TAC Launch and TON Foundation’s Clarification

Alenka Shmalko, ecosystem lead at the TON Foundation, and Antony Tsivarev, head of ecosystem development, made it clear that the TON Foundation does not support the TAC project, despite what some people thought. The intention of this statement was to dispel any misunderstandings that may have arisen from earlier stories linking the foundation to TAC’s expansion.

1. TON Foundation has no plans to develop any L2 on Polygon stack.

2. Oh yes and btw – TON Foundation does not develop any products at all:))

The launch of TAC is part of an increasing movement in the industry to use L2 networks to make Ethereum more scalable while offering much lower transaction fees than its mainnet. OKX released its L2 solution, “X Layer,” earlier this year. It was built on Polygon’s CDK. Next came Coinbase’s “Base” L2 network.

More and more people in the coin world are interested in TON and its related companies, such as Telegram. Telegram’s decision to add dapps straight to its platform has gained it a large user base—about 900 million users around the world. Mini-games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat have become significant successes in the decentralized finance (DeFi) community very quickly. This shows that more and more apps are becoming more like games.

As these kinds of mini-games become more popular, people in the industry are looking closely at how long they can last and how well they can keep users interested in the changing Web3 world.
