According to information provided by on-chain analytics tool IntoTheBlock, the Open Network (TON) blockchain saw an unheard-of increase in transactions, closely linked with the well-known Telegram messaging app.
Driven by the much-awaited airdrop of HMSTR, the native token of the Telegram-based game *Hamster Kombat*, transactions surged to 15.49 million in one single day, a two-fold increase.
TON Airdrop Begins Distribution
Friday, Sept. 27 saw the increase as the company behind *Hamster Kombat*, a game with over 300 million monthly users, started the much-awaited airdrop of HMSTR tokens. Players who completed various in-game challenges and tasks began receiving their tokens, which increased TON chain activity as users began minting their awards.
But *Hamster Kombat*’s enormous user base did not translate into universal airdrop eligibility. Just 131 million of the 300 million players were judged qualified to obtain tokens.
According to a tweet from the official game account, 30.6 million users forfeited their tokens due to not choosing their withdrawal method before the deadline, and 2.3 million players faced bans for cheating.
Following the conclusion of the game’s first season, the company announced that it will reserve 75% of the first batch of 100 million HMSTR tokens for the community. Furthermore, players will only have access to 88.75% of the tokens for which they qualify.
Many long-term players found considerable annoyance with the limited distribution. Despite this, major exchanges like Crypto.com and Binance have successfully listed the HMSTR token, providing traders and investors with the opportunity to trade the token and forecast its future value.
