Former Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stepped down from DOGE his January 20 as announced. President Donald Trump formed the Department of Government Efficiency by executive order to integrate technology and boost administrative efficiency.
As Ramaswamy stepped down from his DOGE co-leadership position he revealed his trust in the department’s progress under Elon Musk’s Twitter/X control and funding support. He stated:
It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE. I’m confident that Elon & team will succeed in streamlining government.
DOGE’s Mission: Modernizing Federal Technology and Efficiency
He expressed his hope about upcoming Ohio developments but refused to share exact details about them. Despite talk of his potential Ohio governorship the public has not gotten official confirmation from Ramaswamy.
Speculations suggest he might pursue a future position as Ohio’s governor while others think he wants to run for president someday. The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, has a lofty mandate: The organization seeks to transform federal technology and help the government work better.
Under Trump’s reform initiative the department works to replace antiquated technologies and make federal operations more efficient. The U.S. DOGE Service replaces the U.S. Digital Service while extending its mission to transform government processes.
Federal agencies through this order need to assemble The Department of Government Efficiency teams that include professionals in technology, legal matters, HR, and leadership for daily operations within 30 days. DOGE teams and federal government personnel will jointly implement a modernization plan seeking completion before Trump’s initiative ends on July 4th 2026.
Despite gaining support for its ambitious plans the department experiences early pushback. Court filings aimed to postpone the program point to potential transparency problems and failure to follow required standards. Musk assured everyone that:
There will be meaningful progress every week.
