via pump.fun Rotten Tomatoes account, and memestrategist ZachXBT reported an X account, rapper Wiz Khalifa’s was involved in the scam to pump a meme coin called WIZ. Seeing some similarities between this hacker and the one that hacked Truth Terminal founder Andy Ayrey’s account last month, ZachXBT asked traders not to buy this token.
On Nov. 4, the pseudonymous trader ZachXBT shared aReddit thread containing a now-removed post from Wiz Khalifa’s X account, which boasts over 35.7 million followers. The fake post announced that Khalifa was “with my team to drop $WIZ for all the crypto fam” and shared a link, for Solana-based token.
WIZ Coin Soars Then Crashes After Wiz Khalifa Hack
After the launch of the token, WIZ rose by almost 2000 % shortly making its market capitalization greater than $2.5 million based on information from DEX Screener. But in an hour’s time, its market cap sank below $28,000 with early investors likely to have begun selling their coin. Now WIZ has fallen more than 90% within 24 hours and it is at $ 7,900 market cap.
After the meme coin post, which was taken down, there has been no indication that Khalifa has reclaimed control of the account. The identity of the hacker remains editorialized but, according to ZachXBT, his features look more like the scammer who emptied Ayrey’s X account on October 29. That case was of posting another Ripple copycat and sketchy token called Infinite Backrooms (IB) sharing that an airdrop would be launched. The scammers are said to have made $600,000+ by leveraging Ayrey’s account.
Upon retrieving control over the account, Ayrey responded to the swaps discussing that the scammers failed to transfer any actual IB tokens to his wallet, and instead sent ‘fakes.’ He called for crypto investigators to feed him lists of wallets to disable in the future, saying, “Any good wallet investigators out there who could provide a list of all the scammer’s known wallets to blacklist?”
