Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a billionaire entrepreneur, was in the middle of another social media storm today. This time, the trouble starts with a tweet he sent out that included a picture made by Grok, the chatbot at his xAI start-up.
A Brazilian Supreme Court judge recently gave Musk an ultimatum: appoint a local agent for X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil within 24 hours or risk the platform’s nationwide ban. The purpose of the image was to mock the judge.
Musk said in his tweet that he asked Grok to make an image of someone who looked like a mix of Voldemort from “Harry Potter” and a Sith Lord from “Star Wars.” He said that Grok’s picture resembled that of a Brazilian judge. The tweet quickly went global, and in response, his significant following had a range of reactions.
Elon Musk Gains Support
The tweet did more than just make people angry; it also brought together Musk’s fans, especially in the cryptocurrency community. The Dogecoin (DOGE) community came together to support him. The co-founder of Dogecoin, Billy Markus, who uses the name Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X, jumped right in.
Musk tweeted something, and Markus joked, “You’ll need to send Harry Skywalker as your Brazil representative,” referencing both *Harry Potter* and *Star Wars*.
Musk’s post sparked a flurry of fan-made content on X, with people creating and sharing their own Grok-made images of figures from “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter.” A lot of these posts came from accounts with Dogecoin themes, which showed that the crypto community really supports Elon Musk.
After the Brazilian Supreme Court gave the deadline, things got worse. X faced accusations of hosting accounts that disseminated false information throughout the country. Before the threat, Elon Musk had already been in trouble with the law several times in Brazil.
Earlier this year, Musk had to close down X’s office in Brazil because he was worried about the safety of his employees because of rising tensions over how the platform moderates material.
Later, Billy Markus followed up his first tweet with another one in which he said he still supported Musk and was against the possible ban in Brazil. Markus wrote on Twitter, “Elon is fighting the good fight.” “Let’s hope they come to their senses before they silence X in Brazil.”
When the 24-hour deadline runs out, everyone is looking at Elon Musk to see how he will handle this new problem. It’s still unclear whether the tech mogul’s tweet will have major effects or just be another event that makes the news.
One thing is for sure, though: Musk’s tendency to make controversial posts on social media keeps him and his companies in the public eye around the world.
