As important changes get strong support from the validators of the network, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) might soon see major changes.
Two amendments, fixPreviousTxnID and repair Empty DID, seem to have gained majority approval and started a vital two-week activation period according to recent data. The expected DID (Decentralized Identifier) revision depends on these tweaks.
XRP Ledger Amendment Approval Process
With validators voting to accept changes that amendments bring about in transaction processing on the XRPL, An amendment must keep at least 80% approval from reliable validators throughout a two-week period if it is to pass. Should support fall below this level, the amendment is momentarily disapproved upon and the procedure is stopped.
An amendment becomes permanent across all subsequent ledger versions if it maintains more than 80% support during the whole two-week timeframe. Disabling an already passed amendment calls for the introduction of a new one.
Apart from the two adjustments in the activation phase, Mayukha Vadari, a senior software engineer at RippleX, revealed this week the publication of two additional XRPL specs targeted on permissioning and compliance, therefore indicating more ledger enhancements.
